Athena® Herd Foundation is very proud to announce the accreditation of it’s Accredited Practitioner Register™ (the Register) by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (the Authority), an independent statutory body, accountable to Parliament. This means that service users, employers and members of the public can now choose a provider of Equine Assisted Services or Equine Facilitated Interactions belonging to a register that has been vetted and approved by the Authority.
Accreditation means that the Register meets the Authority’s high standards in governance, standard-setting, education and training, management of the register, complaints handling and information. Click here to read the Authority’s announcement.
Jennifer Geach, Co-founder and Director of the Athena® said: “This is an exciting development for the Equine Facilitated Interactions practitioner marketplace, it is the first regulated register accredited by the Authority that involves the direct use of animals to deliver therapeutic and wellbeing services. Practitioner use of the Authority’s Quality Mark will give extra peace of mind to anyone looking to engage with the service, letting them know that anyone who holds the Quality Mark is committed to high standards. Athena® is pleased to offer the Quality Mark to practitioners that meet the far-reaching standards of the Register, as approved by the Professional Standards Authority.”
The Register’s purpose is to ensure professional ethics and standards that prioritise the health and wellbeing of clients and public, and protects them from harm or injury. It acts to promote and maintain client confidence and public credibility in the benefits of Equine Facilitated Interactions. The Register provides a coordinating body for wellbeing and healthcare professionals who are working with horses to complement, enhance or extend their practices.
The Register is open to applications from all practitioners, not jut those who have trained with Athena Herd Foundation, to find out more about the Register, it’s activities and the application process, please click here, or for more information please email: [email protected].
