Governance - sub-committees

The Advisory Board has two sub-committees in place. The Standards of Education and Training Committee and the Professional Conduct Review Committee. A third, Registration Committee, is planned for 2025. These committees support the Advisory Board in overseeing the management of the Register and its responsibilities.

This framework of committees serves to ensure that the protection of public interest is maintained at all times. This means maintaining strict oversight of standards that support the application process (including qualifications) and providing a process whereby concerns of complaints can be received and reviewed sensitively and confidentially.

The Standards of Education and Training Committee

The Education and Training Committee is responsible for defining, reviewing and maintaining the Standards of Education and Training and meeting on a quarterly basis to follow through the processes and procedures in place that maintain them.

The committee also has the responsibility of assessing qualifications presented to the Register in line with those standards and deciding whether or not they are satisfactory.

There are currently two members of the committee, with administrative support. The Chair position is shared between them.

This committee will be extended as the assessment of education and training standards requirement grows with Register membership and the specific roles that it accredits broadens.

Professional Conduct Review Committee

The Professional Conduct Review Committee is responsible for handling and reviewing complaints or concerns received about registrants.

It is also responsible for defining, reviewing and maintaining the processes and procedures around the handling of complaints and concerns.

It sits and reaches its decisions independently of the Advisory Board.

There are eight members of the committee. The Chair is Ann Newman.

In the event of a complaint being received, sub-groups of membership will undertake either assessment or adjudication roles.

Conflicts of Interest

The Register maintain a strict Confiicts of Interest policy which is implemented across all boards and committees. The declarations and mitigating actions are recoded on the Conflicts of Interest register.
