About Me

For the past 20 years, I’ve dedicated my life to education, creating welcoming spaces for all. As a brain injury survivor, I truly understand the resilience needed to overcome life’s challenges. Seven years ago, I shifted from teaching to fostering and mental health work, where I’ve continued to support young people with the help of my beloved dogs and horses.

I cherish those moments when I returned to teaching, focusing on children who struggled most. This passion led to the creation of The Therapeutic Tutors CIC, inspired by my cat Misty, who a student once dubbed a “therapeutic tutor.” The name stuck, and today, my animals are an integral part of our sessions.

As a foster carer, I embrace therapeutic parenting, mentoring new carers along the way. My qualifications in psychology, cognitive behavioral hypnotherapy, and Mentalization-Based Treatment (MBT) guide my work, including Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL), which I extend to prisoners, care leavers, and care-experienced adults.

EFL is my true passion. Holding a Level 4 Diploma from Athena Herd, I love helping people forge deep connections with themselves and others, often through the bond with horses. Being part of the Athena Herd Community is a privilege, as it exemplifies inclusion and connection, both with horses and within the human bonds that develop. If my approach doesn’t resonate, I’m confident someone in our community will be a great fit for you. 😊
