About Me | I’m Emily, the founder and CEO of Hope Meadows CIC and a Trainee Counselling Psychologist. I offer psychotherapy and therapeutic riding alongside our wonderful herd of horses. Since founding Hope Meadows in 2020, I’ve been committed to creating an inclusive, compassionate space where individuals of all ages can experience the mental health benefits of being in partnership with horses. I work with clients aged 14yrs+ and my practice is grounded in relational and embodied approaches. I believe that the deeply accepting relationship we can form with horses offers something uniquely powerful and transformative. I feel incredibly privileged to lead our growing team and herd, and to witness every day the small, meaningful moments that make this work so special. |
About my practice | As a final year Trainee Counselling Psychologist, I work across our Equine Assisted Therapy and Therapeutic Riding pathways. The relationship between client, therapist, and horse is a vital part of the process, offering a safe space in which clients can understand themselves in connection with another. I work collaboratively to support clients in making sense of their experiences with compassion, curiosity, and respect for their unique values and identities My clinical experience includes working with adults across a range of settings, including specialist experience in Psychosis and Eating Disorder services. My doctoral research explores the embodied therapeutic relationships that develop between client, therapist, and horse(s), which is an area I feel passionate about bringing into both clinical practice and wider community mental health. At Hope Meadows, we are keen to make Equine Assisted Services more affordable and I hold a number of free and low cost spaces for therapy clients. |

For many of the individuals I work with, traditional talking therapies can feel inaccessible or ineffective. Equine assisted therapy offers a different way in: a grounded, embodied, and relational experience that doesn’t rely on words alone. |
