The Foundation Certificate in Equine Assisted Services can be taken as a standalone Certificate either at an onsite global location or over seven weeks online. This Certificate also forms the first part of the Level 4 and Level 5 Equine Assisted Services Diploma.
Begin your journey into the rewarding field of equine assisted services with the Athena® Level 2 Foundation Certificate. This externally accredited qualification serves as both an excellent standalone introduction and the essential prerequisite for advancing to the Level 4 and Level 5 Diploma programmes.
We offer two distinct pathways to achieve the Foundation Certificate, catering to different learning preferences and logistical needs. You can choose to immerse yourself in four intensive days of practical, on-site learning around the world, or alternatively, you can engage with the material through our comprehensive interactive experiential distance learning option, allowing you to study from anywhere.
This certificate introduces the core principles and foundational knowledge underpinning equine assisted services. While focusing on essential theory, it also provides an initial grounding in the practical considerations of the field. Although specific mentoring may be more central to higher levels, learners have access to our supportive learning environment and resources throughout their studies.
The Athena Level 2 Foundation Certificate holds external accreditation and credentials globally and is also recognised for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
Important Note: While it may be possible to obtain insurance and potentially gain professional membership including Student Membership of AAHEP upon completion of this Foundation Certificate alone, Athena strongly recommends progressing to at least the Level 4 Equine Assisted Services Diploma. Achieving the Athena Level 4 Equine Assisted Services Diploma is also the minimum requirement for inclusion on the AAHEP Accredited Practitioner Register.
