A Global Standard for Equine Facilitated Interactions

The Athena® Register provides a professional home for practitioners of Equine Facilitated Interactions (EFI) who operate outside the scope of our UK-based, PSA-accredited register.

This register is specifically designed for two key groups:

  • International Practitioners: Those residing and practising outside of the United Kingdom.

  • Professional Practitioners: Those whose work falls into non-clinical areas such as corporate training, leadership development, or personal growth coaching.

While this register is not regulated by the PSA, it is founded on the very same principles of excellence. All members are committed to the same robust ethical and professional standards that govern our PSA-accredited practitioners.

A Shared Commitment to High Standards

The Athena® Herd Foundation believes that every client, everywhere, deserves to be safe and respected. That is why practitioners on the Athena® Register adhere to our core mission, which prioritises:

  • Public Protection: Upholding professional standards that protect the health and wellbeing of every client.

  • Professional Integrity: Building public confidence and credibility in the benefits of Equine Facilitated Interactions.

  • Equine Welfare: Ensuring the horse's welfare is central to all practice and interactions.

  • Ongoing Compliance: Maintaining full compliance with all our standards and conditions of membership.

Requirements for Registered Practitioners

To join the Athena® Register, practitioners must demonstrate a clear and ongoing commitment to our shared values. Every registered member will have:

  • Demonstrated a firm commitment to our Code of Ethics and Professional Standards.

  • Pledged to uphold equine health and welfare as a non-negotiable priority.

  • Met and maintained all conditions of membership, including a commitment to ongoing learning.
